Productivity of Intercropping with Tomato and Basil under Different Planting Densities at Wondo Genet, Ethiopia

Intensive crop cultivation like inter-cropping is a reasonable agronomic practice to fulfill and sustain food security in areas where there land shortage that of Wondo Genet areas. An experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Center experimental farm examine productivity economic return. The 2 × 4 factorial arrangement RCBD consisting ten treatments: two basil row arrangements; one tomato alternating with (1T:1B) rows (1T:2B) four population densities (66666, 50000, 33333 16666 plants ha -1 ). Results the study indicated intercropping had total LER value greater than which showed advantage over sole cropping each crop. Intercropping 100% density gave 1.9 MAI 194600 ETB , respectively. Therefore, 33,333 spacing 100 cm 30cm by 1T:1B arrangements could be recommended for target area, based on its better compatibility, productivity, benefit.
